This Bill of Rights in Action explores issues raised by empires and imperial law. The first article looks at the clash of empires and the fight for North America during the 18th century. The second article examines Roman Law, which helped hold the empire together and is the basis for many modern law codes. The final article looks at the future of Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory acquired in the Spanish American War.
