March 5, 1770
Boston Massacre
Before the American Revolution, King George and the British Parliament passed strict laws to control
their American colonies. American colonists resisted the new laws. On March 5, 1770, British
soldiers fired on a mob of colonists in Boston. This incident, known as the Boston Massacre,
moved American colonists closer to rebellion and revolution.
